17 mai The big moveIt's a work in progress, but I'm slowly moving my blog over to Blogspot. You can find me here.
The main reason I'm moving over there, is because I haven't figured out how to post decent sized videos on MSNSpaces. If you have any tips, please feel free to share.
Otherwise, enjoy my first post (and video) at the new location! 16 mai Welcome Back, ME!!I haven't blogged in what seems like centuries. There was that last random post (I was testing to see whether I could post a Youtube video), but otherwise I either haven't found the time, or didn't have anything pertinent to discuss. But finally, a topic!
We went to Chicago, last week. My four loyal readers all know by now that my grandfather passed away, so Trevor, Casey and I all went to Chicago to attend funeral services. Despite the circumstances, it was really a nice trip. I saw family members that I haven't seen in about 10 years, Casey took her first plane ride, we got to eat 97 White Castles in one sitting, we laughed so hard at my Uncle's house that our stomachs hurt, etc. It was really a nice trip. Plus, it rained for four days straight, and the highs were in the low 50's. A really nice change for us, especially since we came back to a lovely Sunday afternoon temperature in Phoenix of 108. That whole sweater/jeans combination that I wore on the plane didn't work so much after we got back home.
Anyway, here are a couple pictures, mostly of Casey of course. Plane ride, hotel room, meeting some of her cousins, meeting her great-grandma and great-grandpa at the cemetary, etc.
30 avril Murphy's Law of CashMurphy's Law: noun. Edward A. Murphy, 1917. An observation that anything that can go wrong, will go wrong.
Murphy's Law of Cash: noun. Tiffany Hunt, 2006. An observation that as soon as one life event costs you an exorbitant amount of cash, everything costs you an exorbitant amount of cash.
Why do financial strains always snowball? Here's a little insight into the past week at the Hunt house:
Bailey has a tumor on her ear that we need to remove (scheduled for this Thursday): $500
The Xterra needs new brakes (taken care of on Saturday): $500
Monday is the first day of May. The Xterra's tags expire in May: $250
Okay, so that's only three life events, but in actuality we probably only planned for one of them. I can say that we are fortunate, in that events like these don't completely wipe us out, but they suck donkey you-know-what, just the same. However, I am positive that there are other people out there who feel the pain of "Murphy's Law of Cash", so I'm posting this on my sounding board.
Can we go back to being Casey's age, when the biggest problem of the day was that our naps weren't long enough? :-)
27 avril Pointless RamblingI looked at my blog today, and realized that I haven't posted in what seems like forever. Problem is, I can never think of witty anecdotes to post about. But then, I realized I don't really need any one subject in particular to comment on.
With that, here is my "grab bag" of random thoughts:
1. Casey has a bump on her lower gums, so we're pretty sure she has a tooth that is working its way to the surface. Thank goodness! As a first-time mom, I get all concerned when I don't think she's developing at a normal pace. She still hates any sort of solid baby food, while other babies I have known were wolfing down entire jars of applesauce at this age. She still won't crawl either, but I'm okay with that. Either she knows for a fact that one of us will get her toy for her, or she's just lazy. Totally understandable, since she could have gotten that trait from either one of her parents. :-)
2. Bailey has a doctor's appointment tomorrow. She has, what we think, is another tumor behind her left ear. She had one removed from the side of her face about a year ago. So, we're getting it checked out. If that is the case, she'll probably have surgery in the next couple of weeks. Bye bye, $400.
3. I'm SO glad Kellie Pickler got voted off American Idol. Now, all we need is for Paris to go, and I will be happy with whoever wins the whole thing.
4. I am also SO excited for Survivor tonight. I was bummed last week, when stupid Bruce got sick, thus delaying a tribal council. Tonight should be very interesting, as we watch old tribemates start to pick each other apart.
5. Why, oh why, are Trevor and I still watching Unanimous? This is the lamest reality show in television history. Still, we tune in, every Wednesday night.
6. I want to repaint my guest bathroom.
7. I'm a stickler on grammar, and I can't believe I just reread my post and ended two of the three sentences in my first paragraph with prepositions. I'm leaving them, though, because otherwise this thought would make absolutely no sense.
Have a great day! 11 avril Ahh, springYes, it's that lovely time of year again. Blue skies, chirping birds, warmer weather, and a billion and one fashion don'ts.
What makes people lose ALL sense of fashion when the seasons change? I generally look forward to spring. What I don't look forward to, in no particular order:
1. Pantyhose with open-toed sandals.
2. Belly shirts on those who have not done any gearing-up crunches.
3. Shorts on people who have no business wearing shorts.
Actually, there is a particular order here. Number one is my biggest pet peeve of all time. And being that I work in an executive building, I see this one, almost daily. I'm sorry, are you a duck? Do you enjoy having webbed toes? No?? Then lose the pantyhose, or buy some shoes that cover the webbed toes.
The other two are a toss-up. And I may sound slightly judgmental, but let me be the first to admit that I do not and have not committed any of the above-mentioned crimes. I've got shorts, sure. But I won't dare put them on yet. Not until I've spent a few afternoons in the backyard, in an attempt to cover the whiteness. Until then, it's cargo capris for me.
Ahh, spring! 6 avril All aboard the Dane train!!Trevor and I are going to Vegas, this weekend. Once we get there, we're picking up our dear friends, Jason and Ami, who are flying in from Denver, and then we're all going to Mandalay Bay to see Dane Cook! Jason got us fantastic seats, and I am SO excited!
It's also not a complete weekend without some great food. Saturday night, we're going to the Carnival World buffet at the Rio Hotel. For a mere $23 per person, you can stuff your plate with the likes of crab legs, mac and cheese, sushi, and pizza. Now that's good eatin'!
I'll provide a review, once we get back. I thought I would at least update the blog with the plans though.
Here's to a super-fun weekend!!
